Summer Sidewalk Sales returns to Downtown Kalamazoo July 25-27

Kalamazoo, MI – Downtown Kalamazoo summer fun continues with Summer Sidewalks Sales, Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Week and Salsa Cook-off.

Downtown Kalamazoo’s largest retail event, Summer Sidewalk Sales, is scheduled July 25 – 27.  Enjoy big savings, live music, games and more along the Kalamazoo Mall.  Event hours are Thursday, July 25, 10am– 6pm, Friday, July 26, 10am – 8pm, and Saturday, July 27, 10am – 6pm.  

Returning this year is the Family Fun Zone, located near Gazelle sports. Kids, both big and small, can enjoy yard games and crafts. Family Fun Zone hours are Thursday and Friday, 4 – 6pm, and Saturday, 11am – 2pm.  New this year stop by DeVisser Alley for a selfie at the hand-crafted Selfie Station, take a picture or have a Polaroid photo taken by a photographer, Friday, 6-8pm, FREE to the first 100 visitors.

The 5th annual Downtown Kalamazoo Salsa Cook-Off, will kick-off the week of fun downtown on Saturday.  Get your taste buds primed with the taste of summer salsas.  It’s your chance to explore Downtown, sampling the best salsa recipes and vote for your favorite, all while visiting new and familiar shops and restaurants. This year look for salsa made with ingredients from local growers featured at Kalamazoo’s Farmers Market. 

Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Week, July 20 – 28, allows restaurants to highlight what makes them truly special with a fix-priced menu at either $10, $25 or $35. This allows for more innovative pairings, affordable food options and the chance to “hop” from place to place with the $10 price fix. Menus are being updated daily, so come back and check out the week where your kitchen can close and you can treat yourself to a week of “food heaven.”
