The City of Kalamazoo,  Consumers Energy, and several other utility company have projects scheduled that may temporarily affect automobile, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic. Get the latest updates below or sign up for ou bi-weekly newsletter at the top of this page. 


Closure: Portage Street from E. Lovell Street to Southtown (Pitcher Street Connector) will be closed beginning April 15, 2019 for approximately three weeks for Consumers Energy utility work. Portage Street will be closed south of Lovell Street to install new underground duct bank April 15-May 3. Traffic will be able to: cross Portage on Lovell heading west, Turn right into Portage from Lovell, Turn Left and right into Lovell from Portage. The east turn-style into the parking lot will be closed during this time. The west turn-style off of Jasper Street will remain open. View the detour map here.

ClosureJohn Street between Lovell Street and Walnut Street will be closed April 15, 2019 through April 30, 2019 for utility work. There will be impacts to the traveling public. View the detour map here.

ClosureNorthbound Rose Street at West Exchange Place will be closed April 24, 2019 through April 25, 2019 for heavy equipment placement as part of the Exchange Place Development. There will be impacts to the traveling public.  View the detour map here.

Closure: Water Street between Eleanor Street and Edwards Street will be closed April 30, 2019 for construction work on Lot #9. The traveling public is advised to seek alternate routes.

2019 Downtown Kalamazoo Construction Meeting - Construction in and around downtown Kalamazoo was the topic of a public meeting on March 20.
