PARKING PROGRAMS

Downtown Parking Map - The Kalamazoo Mall parking ramp currently accepts debit/credit card payments. We hope to provide this service in all our ramps and lots in the future.

Several programs have been developed through the Parking Committee's Five Year Parking Plan to make parking downtown for businesses and customers an easy, pleasant and cost-effective experience. Follow the links below to see additional information.

Customer Assistance - Lock-out service, escort service and jump starts are available Monday - Thursday from 7:30 am - 12 am, Fridays from 7:30 am - 1 am and Saturdays from 10 am - 1 am. Note that on Saturdays, you must make contact with a ramp / lot attendant for this assistance. At all other times, call Central City Parking at 269.342.6383 for assistance.

Early Bird Discount - Provides for a discounted parking rate ($3.20/day) for those entering a participating parking facility before 9:30 am and park their vehicles at the rooftop level.

Evening Special Event Program - Provides businesses with a discounted rate for evening events of 50 people or more who will be entering our attended facilities before 5:00pm and leaving after 5:00pm.  This program is designed to discount the cost of parking for large events that overlap the daily and evening rates.

Jury Service - Provides a discounted daily rate for those serving on a jury downtown.  The daily rate for jurists is $3.20.

Meter Cards - "Plastic for Parking," eliminates the need to stock change. These cards can store up to $50.00 and are good at any individual downtown meter.

Online Payment - Monthly parking permits and parking violations can be paid from any place with internet access.

Parking Validation - This program allows businesses to pay for their customer's parking. 80 businesses currently participate. For more information and a current list of businesses that validate, please visit the Parking Validation page.

Validation Program Members can validate parking for 67% of the regular hourly rate charged in Central City Parking’s attended facilities, including the Arcadia Ramp, Kalamazoo Mall Ramp, Epic Center Ramp and Lot 9 (Water and Edwards Street). There are two methods for validating parking:

  • Parking Stamps: One hour stamps are sold in books of 100 for $80.00 per book. Half hour stamps are sold in books of 100 for $50.00. Evening stamps are sold in books of 100 for $200.00
  • Rubber Ink Stamps: Rubber ink stamps are worth one hour of validated parking for the first stamp and a half hour for every stamp after the first hour. Your business will be invoiced monthly and a $5.00 service charge will be included on your bill.

Part-Time Employee Discount - Downtown businesses may purchase parking stamps for their employees at a discounted rate that can be used in the following facilities:

  • Epic Center Ramp # 2 all day Monday - Friday
  • Kalamazoo Mall Ramp #2 all day Monday - Friday (rooftop parking only; requires a window sticker with a one-time fee of $0.60)
  • Arcadia Ramp # 4 all day Monday - Friday
Postage size stamps with a full day value are sold in sheets of 10 for $38.00 per sheet. Stamps may be ordered 24 hours in advance and purchased as needed. They are available for pick-up or delivery. Only employers may purchase stamps. This program is subject to availability and may change at any time.

With the ticket you received when entering the ramp, adhere your pre-paid stamp on the back and give to the cashier upon exiting. This program is available anytime, Monday – Friday in the above specified parking ramps.

10-hour meters are located throughout downtown and are priced at $2 per 10 hours. The locations of these meters are highlighted on the map in green. The meter would be a convenient alternative option.

Lot #2 (former Public Safety) located at Lovell and RoseStreet operates with an honor box system. This is the most widely used paid parking system in the U.S. When entering the lot, select a numbered parking space.   The honor box contains the corresponding number where you put your money into the slot. This lot is priced at $1 per hour with a maximum rate of $3.75 for all day.
